Shanghai Street - Cooking Shops - Hong Kong

wooden butcher blocks at Man Kee Chopping Boards
The weather in Hong Kong was crazy last night, the thunder and lighting and rain insane, I looked out my window and it looked like a river pouring off the next door neighbours roof.  And when I woke up this morning there was a black rain warning, which means you are not suppose to leave the house or if you're at work you're stuck there until it's lowered.  So since I am avoiding the rain in the apartment, here is a post I have been meaning to add to my blog for awhile...

For anyone who loves cooking and living or visiting Hong Kong - Shanghai street is a place you must visit.  Shanghai street is the location of most of the kitchen supply shops in Hong Kong. It's around 2 blocks full of cooking stores.  Shanghai street has everything you could possibly need for your home kitchen and commericial kitchen. The shops sells huge varieties of Western and Asian cooking tools. Shanghai street stretches from TST to Prince Edward, but the cooking shops are generally located between Yau Ma Tei and Jordan, except for a few that are scattered along the rest of the street.

If you are interested in making some traditional Chinese foods you can find: woks, steamers, moon cake moulds, eggy ball makers and more.  I have bought a few of the moon cake moulds and have grand plans to try and make a moon cake that I actually like the taste of, but I have only made some shortbread cookies in them so far.

  1. Great set of amazon chopping board not too heavy and easy to clean. My favorite part is the cutout on each one...keeps any kind of juices from spilling on the counter. They are easy to clean, but be sure not to put them in the dishwasher; we liked them so much that we bought a second set for our vacation house…..
